Speculative circuits; creative tinkering
In this podcast, Ji Youn Kang shares her current project ‘Speculative Sound Synthesis’ where she explores ‘speculation’ as a methodology to question current knowledge of analog circuits by actively creating ‘error,’ for example. She discusses a joy of tinkering on breadboards, importance of doing it, and how such experimentations lead to a musical creation, how the process of making continues in live performances, and how breadbards allow musical complexity.
Excerpts of one of the live performance ‘Cross-wired Xylophone’ are featured in the podcast, which was performed in Grey Space Den Haag in April, 2023.
